Timeless and Feminine Outfit: White Shirt & Gingham
Posted by ADORED VINTAGE
A white cotton long sleeved top is a MUST in your wardrobe. I haven't found one exactly right for AV yet, but once I do... I'll want to live in it, and hopefully you do too. Anyhow, a white shirt paired black and white gingham is a CLASSIC and timeless feminine style outfit pairing. Add a classic boater straw hat (seriously, a straw hat will never be out of fashion, it is SEASONAL, but it's timeless). I love this outfit because it can easily be worn in summer and transition to Autumn. The front view of this outfit (click on the...

French Inspired Weekend Style
Posted by ADORED VINTAGE
Is there anything more quintessentially French than a red striped Breton top? Me thinks not! Well..perhaps a beret, but apparently true French girls don't even wear them. I don't really care if it's slightly frowned upon in France, I love berets and will continue to rock them probably till I'm old1 Anyhow, this casual weekend French inspired outfit is so simple and cute. The trick with getting the right French look with these classic striped tops is to make sure your top isn't too fitted. There has to be an ease and casualness to the fit, more relaxed, but still...

Classic and Feminine Vintage Inspired Outfit

First off, if you're not following Gonzalez y Gonzalez on Instagram you really should! It is a BEAUTIFUL home supplies shop in Spain (Madrid) and I am so SMITTEN by it. Why doesn't a shop like this exist in Portland? Anyhow, back to fashion! This combination of a crisp and classic blouse and a-line midi skirt with espadrilles... it will NEVER be out of fashion. What makes it timeless are the colors, the silhouette, and that it's overall quite simple. Every element of this outfit should be in your wardrobe AV Gal! Image source: Instagram

What Shoes to Wear With An Eyelet Maxi Dress
Posted by ADORED VINTAGE
I have a soft spot for any modern dresses that evoke vintage Edwardian dresses like this cotton eyelet lace dress. The trick to wearing it without looking too bridal (because it can easily go there...obviously, white long dress!) is to pair it with flat shoes or sandals. You could do espadrilles that aren't too high and in cooler weather pair with worn in vintage lace up boots. I think dresses like these worn with dressy strappy heels look really odd. It's a personal opinion of course, at the end of the day, wear what makes you feel good! Because the dress...

Midi Skirt With Belt

I've seen this photo floating around the interwebs for years and it really has held up as a classic and feminine outfit inspiration! When it comes to keeping your outfit looking timeless one of the MAIN things you can do is to stick to neutral colors and simple silhouettes. In this outfit a muted green (this shade of green is so beautiful!) and navy with dark brown leather accessories. Image source: Bloglovin

Farmer's Market Outfits
Posted by ADORED VINTAGE
I love farmer's markets, don't you? I would assume you would if you're an AV Girl! It's so much fun seeing all the different stalls and local farms bring in their goods. I love all the flowers, the pastries, and most of all...I LOVE people watching! I never just schlep myself to a farmer's market. It's a treat to go to one and I treat it like a destination place. I usually wear a dress or a pretty blouse and vintage jeans...I always have a straw bag and a net produce bag with me. Image Credits: Image are from Adenorah...

Feminine Style: Navy Midi Dress
Posted by ADORED VINTAGE
I love a good classic midi dress, especially if it's navy blue. It so happens that most of the navy blue midi dresses in my own closet are vintage...have you ever thought about the term midi dress? That's a relatively new term I think. Like women in the 40s were not shopping for midi dresses...all their dresses were just that length due to war time rationing. LOL. Fashion history is fun! Anyhow, this gal's outfit is wonderful and can easily be worn to a farmer's market, out to brunch with your girlfriends, or even a solo date at your local...

French Girl Style: White Blouse
Posted by ADORED VINTAGE
Why are white blouses eponymous with French girl style? I think a classic and feminine white blouse is a must for every French girl's wardrobe. Like there's probably a checklist somewhere that I really need to get a hold of! If I find it I will GLADLY share with you. So something I have noticed with the "French Girl White Blouse" wardrobe staple is that it perfectly balances TAILORED and FEMININE. It's never boxy, stiff, or too oversized. It always fits really well across the shoulders, the neckline is never TOO LOW, but just low enough for a bit of...

Penelope Cruz in Captain Corelli's Mandolin
Posted by ADORED VINTAGE
I remember coming across this photo of Penelope Cruz on instagram maybe or Pinterest... I don't know which, but thinking "WHAT MOVIE IS THIS?!" Well it turns outs is Captain Corelli's Mandolin (2001) and it's set in the 1940s, in Italy...and I'm basically just drooling over all her outfits! They're feminine and pretty but a little folky...which I LOVE. Also her hairstyles... I haven't seen this movie yet, but I am going to watch it soon if not only to glean outfit ideas, hair inspiration, and dream of someday visiting Italy. Picnic Outfit Idea
Posted by ADORED VINTAGE
I love picnics! Who doesn't love dining en plein air on a beautiful warm day with a slight breeze under a canopy of trees or perhaps right next to a river... picnics are one of life's simple pleasures (simple picnic if you're like me and would happily call a baguette, a slice of brie, and some summer fruits a picnic...) This sky blue floral dress with espadrilles would be so pretty for a picnic! And if you're by the river you can wear a bathing suit underneath and dive right into the cool waters. Classically Feminine With A Blouse and Skirt
Posted by ADORED VINTAGE
A feminine white blouse and a fitted a-line skirt will never go out of style when paired together. This is one of my go-to uniforms for outfits and I have a fair stock of a-line below the knee length skirts that I pair with an assortment of white cotton blouses. These images are from a Japanese movie from 1957 called Blue Sky Maiden...which I've never seen or heard about until now. I love that you get a peek of her slip underneath. Women should wear slips more often, it's such a delicate detail. Images all sourced from: Tumblr

Liv Tyler's Floral Dress in Stealing Beauty
Posted by ADORED VINTAGE
First off, I have a major girl crush on Liv Tyler. A huge part of that is because she played Arwen... but also I follow her on Instagram and she just seems super sweet and kind...like her insides match how beautiful she is on the outside. I know you'll never see this Liv Tyler, but I adore you so much. Ok... now that we all know who my lady crush is, let's talk about this floral dress Liv wears in the movie Stealing Beauty. I will probably post all of her outfits from this movie because I ADORE this movie....
