Language of Flowers: Verbena, Lavender, and Rosemary
Posted by ADORED VINTAGE
For the month of October we are exploring the language and sentiment of these three floras: Verbena, Lavender, and Rosemary. Why you ask? Well dear loves, it is our small homage to one of our most beloved movies of all time, Practical Magic, a movie about sisterhood, friendships, love, and of course a bit of practical magic all set in an idyllic New England town. Verbena was the name of Sally Owens' beautiful apothecary shop in the movie filled with lotions, balms, and creams she handcrafted with herbs and flowers from her garden. And lavender and rosemary are from the Owens' saying:...

Posted by ADORED VINTAGE
It gladdens our vintage style loving hearts to see that head scarves and kerchiefs have made a strong comeback in recent mainstream fashion, though we know ourselves well enough that even when the trend fades amongst the masses, we'll still happily don our cotton bandanas and floral silk scarves around our heads as so many women did of yesteryear. There are so many ways to wear hair scarves to channel that effortlessly feminine vintage look and we are sharing some photos from the past that showcases all the wonderful ways to accent your outfits with the ever versatile scarf or bandana. BTS Fall Photoshoot With Emily
Posted by ADORED VINTAGE
We haven't shared behind the scenes photos from any of our photoshoots in awhile, so during this week's photoshoot with our new model, Emily, we made a point to snap some photos of what our shoot days are like. Shoot days at Adored Vintage never feel like a work day and are always fun and collaborative though definitely a workout. Because we're such a small team, on shoot days everyone (that works in-office) are all part of the shoot wearing their own respective creative hat for the day. Shoot days are the days we all get to work together on the same project. Lots of...

12 Everyday Health Rules from the Edwardian Era
Posted by ADORED VINTAGE
Found in a vintage Edwardian physics and health book from 1908, these Twelve Healthy Rules for Everyday Living are still so applicable today that we wanted to share them here in our journal. We love that these "health rules" are simple and easily applicable and accessible for anyone regardless of social standing which is quite wonderful. Nowadays it seems like to live a healthy lifestyle, one must purchase expensive equipment and stock up on dozens costly vitamins and supplements when really so much about healthy living is making conscious decisions about your thoughts, the food you consume (balance is a good thing),...

Shopkeeper Ponderings No. 3 / Reopening
Posted by RODELLEE BAS
We are finally reopening our studio & showroom and I wanted to share some progress photos and some shopkeeper ponderings about reopening. Nearly a year ago we had reopened our retail shop on SE 2nd Street after being closed for several months due to the lockdowns then by October of last year the brick & mortar with a café would be no longer. Since then I have taken my time to figure out what to do with the front of our space and to be perfectly honest, I really struggled to find inspiration and motivation to reopen the retail shop up until...

Shopkeeper Ponderings No. 2 / Work Life Balance
Posted by RODELLEE BAS
The past few months have been quite busy behind the scenes here at Adored Vintage. Week after week I feel a tremendous amount of gratitude that this little shop o' mine grows steadily month after month. So often I look around our atelier and can't believe this is mine, I created this, I built this, I get to work here! What joy! New AV Gals I recently brought on two more part time folks to AV (though one of our new hires is a fella, but he's charming and was so excited to officially become "An AV Gal".) I'm learning better and...

Ode to Vintage Victoria: May 1996
Posted by ADORED VINTAGE
Let us once again revisit the pages of one of, if not my favorite magazine to ever exist, Victoria magazine. I first discovered Victoria magazine after stumbling across a Tumblr post mocking the magazine and while the satire wasn't lost on me, the pages and articles of the magazine piqued my interest so much that I have spent the last few years collecting each issue that Nancy Lindemeyer was Editor in Chief. Today we will be peeking through the May 1996 issue which is graced with one of my absolute favorite fashion editorial ever titled "When Romance Was In Fashion"...

Women In Art: Flowers at the Table
Posted by ADORED VINTAGE
Flowers will remain our main source of inspiration here at Adored Vintage and this week to inspire you, we are sharing the beautiful floral and still life paintings of Scottish artist, Anne Redpath (1895-1965) and a few other women artists who captured the beauty of flowers in their most simple settings, at home, and on your table. Perhaps these painted works will inspire you to create your own floral arrangements for your home to adorn your tables, mantles, and bedside stands. I am someone who is very interested in colour – and by that, I mean bright colour, gay colour; but at the same...

Lookbook / Poems for Spring
Posted by RODELLEE BAS
April is International Poetry Month and to celebrate, we are sharing some of our favorite poems centered on Spring, flowers, the changing seasons, and the rain alongside these lovely photos we took of our model Bailey at our studio a few weeks ago in a meadow we crafted using silk and dried flowers. A Song The Grass Sings The violet is much too shy, The rose too little so; I think I'll ask the buttercup If I may be her beau. When winds go by, I'll nod to her And she will nod to me, And I will kiss...

Kindred: Cadie on Creating Precious Memories
Posted by ADORED VINTAGE
One of our values here at Adored Vintage is creating a community for kindred spirits and women who endeavor to live lives of simple attainable beauty. Several months ago we received an order for mini flower bouquets with a special note attached that it was for her daughter's birthday party. Hannah and I crafted these mini dried flower bouquets and had so much fun choosing the ribbons for them. What a lovely surprise to see one day that we were tagged on Instagram of the photos from the party. Our hearts burst and we knew we wanted to start creating an online...

Vintage Fashion Inspiration: 1940s Overalls
Posted by ADORED VINTAGE
Here at Adored Vintage we rarely look to modern trends and current fashion fads to inspire the garments we choose to grace our online shop pages, instead we often turn to the past to see what the everyday woman wore as she went about her life doing simple, ordinary things. We've recently added some cute vintage inspired overalls in the shop, so we wanted to share with all of you the vintage photos we have collected that were our source of inspiration and reference. We've gathered together a few inspiring vintage images of women from the past (mostly from the 1940s...

Your Love Languages & Self Care
Posted by ADORED VINTAGE
Oh goodness where has the time gone? It's already March?! As a team, we reflected on our love languages for the month of February and discussed what our love languages were and how they affect not only those we are in relationships with, whether romantically or platonically, but also how do we show up for ourselves. For those who don’t know, there are five primary love languages; Words of Affirmation, Acts of Service, Quality Time, Giving Gifts, and Physical Touch. While it is important to know your loved ones primary love language, it is also just as important to know your...
