How to Dress Like A French Girl (When You're Not French)
Publié par ADORED VINTAGE le
It's interesting that "Dressing Like A French Girl" is hugely popular right now because of the likes of It French Girls on Instagram Jeanne Damas, Sabina Socol, and AnneLaure Mais Moreau... but wanting to evoke the French girl look has been around for years and years. Even centuries! But the French Girl look isn't even entirely French. Most of the most iconic French style icons weren't even French! To me, the French Girl look is a spirit. It's a way of being. I won't get too into it because this is an outfit idea post and these are short and sweet... but...

Is there anything more quintessentially French than a red striped Breton top? Me thinks not! Well..perhaps a beret, but apparently true French girls don't even wear them. I don't really care if it's slightly frowned upon in France, I love berets and will continue to rock them probably till I'm old1 Anyhow, this casual weekend French inspired outfit is so simple and cute. The trick with getting the right French look with these classic striped tops is to make sure your top isn't too fitted. There has to be an ease and casualness to the fit, more relaxed, but still...

Farmer's Market Outfits

I love farmer's markets, don't you? I would assume you would if you're an AV Girl! It's so much fun seeing all the different stalls and local farms bring in their goods. I love all the flowers, the pastries, and most of all...I LOVE people watching! I never just schlep myself to a farmer's market. It's a treat to go to one and I treat it like a destination place. I usually wear a dress or a pretty blouse and vintage jeans...I always have a straw bag and a net produce bag with me. Image Credits: Image are from Adenorah...

French Girl Style: White Blouse
Publié par ADORED VINTAGE le
Why are white blouses eponymous with French girl style? I think a classic and feminine white blouse is a must for every French girl's wardrobe. Like there's probably a checklist somewhere that I really need to get a hold of! If I find it I will GLADLY share with you. So something I have noticed with the "French Girl White Blouse" wardrobe staple is that it perfectly balances TAILORED and FEMININE. It's never boxy, stiff, or too oversized. It always fits really well across the shoulders, the neckline is never TOO LOW, but just low enough for a bit of...

Jane Birkin in Eyelet Top

I adore this white eyelet top that Jane Birkin is wearing in this photo. Jane Birkin is probably the ultimate IT GIRL for French style, which is kind of interesting since she's English... anyhow... I love how sweet and feminine this top is with it's soft ruffles along the neckline. I wish there were better/more photos of this whole look. Also... this whole ensemble is very "on trend" right now... which I love and don't love. I love that vintage styles from the past that I are my go to inspirations are trending because I see more and more women...

French Girl Style: Midi Dress

Ahh the elusive French Girl! What does she have that the rest of us don't? Why is she so effortlessly stylish? Is it all a rouse? Or is it just ROUJE? If you don't know about Rouje, it is a French label started by French it girl Jeanne Damas and it is a collection that is very vintage inspired and as you guessed, very French. 1960s French Style in Italy

I just watched this trailer for the movie "Plein Soleil" a French film from 1962 set in small coastal towns in Italy about a sordid love triangle between three "beautiful modern people"... anyhow, the style is very classic and chic...very Nautical and French! I love her classic vintage 60s white dress and the red and white striped tee she wears in one scene with just a simple delicate necklace. Image source: Pinterest

This is one of I'm sure will be many Jeanne Damas fashion outfit inspiration posts. Jeanne is your quintessential French "it girl" with her perfectly imperfect hair, doe eyes, and signature berry stained lips. Oh, and she also has a clothing lined called ROUJE which is wonderful... so you should definitely check it out! I am smitten by this rust brown dotted midi button up dress...The Rouje Lena dress...and those strappy ankle tie sandals. Image source: Rouje
